Federer trounces Nadal at Masters

Ferrer, who has dropped only one set in four matches, was fresh, confident and sharp from the start, while Roddick seemed to be showing the effects of the short 20-hour turnaround from his loss to Federer the night before. Ferrer last played Thursday.

''Today I played very good,'' Ferrer said. ''Now I want to enjoy this moment.''

NFL: Two Titans miss practice

Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth and cornerback Nick Harper missed their fourth practice and are game-time decisions for Monday's game in Denver. Haynesworth has not practiced since hurting his right hamstring Nov. 4. Harper suffered a concussion in last week's game and has not practiced.

The Indianapolis Colts listed left tackle Tony Ugoh as doubtful for today's game against Kansas City and waived defensive tackle Dan Klecko.

Spector savors another win over United

Saying Jonathan Spector had an eventful game against high-flying Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday would be a bit of an understatement. The 21-year-old played three positions -- John O'Shea would be proud -- and gave away a penalty in the middle of the second half.

On the pitch from start to finish, he witnessed teammates Anton Ferdinand and Matthew Upson score in the final 13 minutes to give West Ham a 2-1 win in London that helped knock United off the top spot.

SWP raring to go for England friendly

Chelsea winger Wright-Phillips missed Monday's training session under new boss Fabio Capello.

But the Italian confirmed he had trained on Tuesday and was fit to take part in Wednesday's clash at Wembley if called upon.

The 26-year-old might be just in front of Blackburn's Bentley in the pecking order, and will be looking to impress while David Beckham is not in the squad.

Capello revealed he will not reveal his first starting line-up until shortly before the 8pm kick-off and said: "It is my custom to tell the players the team just before we leave the hotel on the way to the ground."

Portsmouth's Jermain Defoe was called into the England squad on Sunday after fellow striker Gabriel Agbonlahor was forced to withdraw.

Aston Villa's Agbonlahor injured his hamstring during the first half of Sunday's 2-1 defeat by Fulham but has joined up with the squad in a non-playing capacity.

Meet the Press

Schechter, one of the first producers for CNN and a winner of two Emmys for his work on the ABC program "20/20," has been a Neiman Fellow in Journalism at Harvard University. He is also the author of a book called The More You Watch, the Less You Know (1999), which I haven't read — though reportedly it did upset Bill O'Reilly, which seems like recommendation enough.

Schechter, then, is someone who brings tacit knowledge aplenty to the work of commenting on the state of the media. Last year, in his documentary WMD: Weapons of Mass Deception, he did more than reconstruct how the print and electronic media alike fell into line with the administration's justifications for war. In that, he drew in part on a piece of scholarly research that certainly does deserve the closest and most shame-faced attention by the entire journalistic profession, the study Media Coverage of Weapons of Mass Destruction, by Susan D.

Famous glamorous female bodyguard killed in Moscow

BEIJING, Jan. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- Anna Loginova, Russia's most famous and glamorous female bodyguard, has been killed in Moscow while trying to defend her Porsche Cayenne from a hijacker, media reported.

Loginova, also a former model and the head of a private security firm, on Sunday tried to fight off the carjacker and clung to the door handle. She was killed after being dragged along the street at high speed as the car screeched away.

"She suffered serious injuries and died at the scene," said a police spokesman.

Loginova was a famous Russian model before venturing into the security business and had shot advertising campaigns for BMW, Chanel and other world-known brands.

She took lessons of Jiu-Jitsu martial art and mastered the sword handling.

NASCAR's real chase

When Tony Stewart checked his rearview mirror in the final laps of the Budweiser Shootout last weekend, he knew he was in trouble.

The Hendrick Motorsports cars were lined up and ready to take charge.

And they did.

Unfortunately for Stewart and all the other Sprint Cup teams, it may have been a sign of things to come for the NASCAR season.

"They've definitely picked up where they left off for sure," said Stewart, the top driver at Joe Gibbs Racing.

Now it's up to everyone else to catch up - a daunting task considering Hendrick's four-car team has become arguably the most dominant in NASCAR history.

Hendrick boasts two-time defending series champion Jimmie Johnson and four-time series champ Jeff Gordon. Throw in Casey Mears and Dale Earnhardt Jr., and team owner Rick Hendrick's talent pool is starting to draw comparisons to some of the most recognized dynasties in professional sports history.
