| TALK ABOUT IT
While the liberal establishment may be conflicted over whether it wants Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama as the Democratic presidential nominee, there's no doubt which Republican it favors. John McCain is the liberal elite's go-to guy in the GOP. They believe he'll be there for them when they need him. That was the essential message of last week's New York Times editorial endorsing McCain for the Republican nomination. "With a record of working across the aisle to develop sound bipartisan legislation, he would offer a choice to a broader range of Americans than the rest of the Republican field," said the Times. "We have shuddered at McCain's occasional, tactical pander to the right because he has demonstrated that he has the character to stand on principle." What the Times is saying here is that it does not take McCain's conservative campaign-season rhetoric seriously.
Science CES 2008 Ride and Drive with GM's Fuel Cell Equinox and DARPA ...
We here at DailyTech have profiled fuel cell vehicle on numerous occasions. Companies like General Motors, Ford and Honda have showcased both concept and production hydrogen fuel cell vehicles over the year and they have always generated much interest from our readers. DailyTech was recently given a chance to take a fuel cell vehicle out onto the streets of Las Vegas during the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The vehicle tested, the fuel cell version of the Chevy Equinox, was modified to include an electric motor, fuel cells, hydrogen storage, batteries, and more. The key component is GM's fourth generation fuel cell stack which is about the size of an inline-6 engine turned sideways. A single 97 HP, 236 lb-ft co-axial electric motor drives the front wheels. The car has a pack of nickel-metal hydride batteries, which provide 35 kWh of on demand power for peak loading during acceleration. The car features three 10,000 psi storage tanks which can hold up to nine pounds of hydrogen. Two tanks are found beneath the rear seat, and one is mounted near the rear suspension. The car has enough fuel for a 200 mile trip as verified during EPA testing.
Snowmobilers say let it snow, let it snow (and make it about 25 ...
Whether bolting straight across the ice of Albert Lea Lake or bobbing left and right through the trails of Myre-Big Island State Park, one thing is for sure: Operating a snowmobile is an addictive endeavor."That's it. There you go. That's why," said Dirk DeVries, vice president of the Freeborn County Trail Association.DeVries and four members of the Freeborn County Trail Association went riding for two hours Thursday with Tribune photographer Brie Cohen and me. The association maintains 250 miles of groomed trails in Freeborn County. The trails run to almost all of the cities in the county and connect to trails in neighboring counties. A person could ride a snowmobile from Albert Lea to Canada on the state's trails. In all, there are about 20,400 groomed snowmobile trails in Minnesota. Those trails also connect to the trails at Myre-Big Island State Park.
Murano improves on style, safety
When Nissan Guam location sales manager Enzo Turrini first bought the second generation of the Nissan Murano back in 2004, his wife hadn't yet bought in to the idea of vehicle's futuristic look. The trend of massive sports utility vehicles was changing for a market looking for style and road comforts. A few models later, Nissan has again struck gold with its style, Turrini says, also improving on many safety features. .

Go 2 Guy: LeBron a superstar living in fast lane
BEAVERTON, Ore. -- LeBron James will make his only Seattle appearance of the season Thursday night at KeyArena, but he was here at Nike headquarters Tuesday afternoon, practicing with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Enclosed by wall-to-wall windows, the basketball court is on the third floor of the Bo Jackson Fitness Center, right above the Bo Jackson Weight Room. James is in the middle of a seven-year, $90 million deal with Nike, so he's been at this 180-acre, 19-building campus many times before. Earlier in the day, the Cavaliers flew to Portland from Los Angeles, where LeBron scored 41 points and outdueled Kobe Bryant on Sunday, raising his NBA-leading average to nearly 30 points a game. While I was interviewing teammate Daniel Gibson, James was making one shot after another, swishing six 20-footers in a row at one point.

But after the most serious accident of his career, Force said he no longer agrees with the legendary Green Bay Packers coach's philosophy that "Winning is the only thing." "I don't want to go against Lombardi," said Force, winner of a record 125 NHRA Funny Car races. "But maybe he never had anybody die on the playing field." .

Investors lose Rs 6.6 lakh crore
MUMBAI: On Monday, headline writers were left desperately searching for a word that would capture the mind-moggling fall of the Sensex...Plunge, plummet, free fall...Everything that had worked earlier now seemed so tame. Even bloodbath, carnage or mayhem wasn't bloody enough. Till Monday, the steepest fall in the history of the Sensex had been 826 points. A fall of over 2,000 points in the space of five hours was like the forces of gravity going into devilish overdrive. There was some rearguard action in the closing minutes of trading, but the full day's loss was still a record-battering 1,408 points. Yes, the market, which lost 687 points last Friday and 1,814 points in the space of a week, had expected what insiders like to call a "further correction".
